Role & Responsibilities:

  • Manage your own time to plan and deliver high quality PE lessons and extra curricular activities for children in a variety of settings and schools.
  • Communicate knowledge of National Curriculum for PE with other professionals.
  • Lead a team at our Sports Holiday Clubs, ensuring Ofsted requirements are consistently met.
  • Build strong relationships with children, schools and parents through incredible customer service.
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of all children is maintained at all times.


  • Experience teaching or coaching in schools (preferably primary) for 12 months or more.
  • Qualified to level 2 in a range of sports with a good knowledge of the KS1 & KS2 National Curriculum for PE.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of a variety of exciting physical activities, assessment methods, behaviour management and inclusion strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer literate.
  • Outstanding time management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Most importantly… you must be happy, friendly and fun.


  • Degree in sports coaching and development or similar.
  • Level 2/3 certificate in supporting the delivery of school sport qualification or similar.
  • Experience of working in a fast paced private sector environment.


  • 40 hours per week (8:00-16:00 Monday-Friday). The role consists of visiting numerous sites around the locality but is based at offices in Stoke-on-Trent.


  • Permanent contract £14,000 – £18,000 per annum
    (part-time positions paid pro-rota)


  • Access to company vehicles / insurance, flexible working hours and an annual training allowance may be offered to exceptional candidates. Uniform, computers and sports equipment required are all provided.
  • Lots of over-time opportunities.
  • All business mileage remunerated and overtime paid pro rata.
  • Regular training opportunities provided (5 training days per year).
  • Contract includes Holiday Pay and Statutory Sick Pay.
  • 1 ‘free pass’ for family to use on Bee Active childcare services.

Could you Bee an amazing Lead Coach this Summer?

Bee Active is the areas leading childcare provider, delivering high quality childcare for thousands of families, since 2013. All of our venues are Ofsted registered, ensuring we are regulated to the highest standards. We are currently preparing for our biggest and brightest summer programme yet, and as such need to recruit enthusiastic and energetic Coaches to join our trusted and qualified team. We require up to 20 casual Coaches to join our bank staff in order to help us keep up with demand across our 10 venues in and around Staffordshire.

Job Description
Successful applicants will be expected to manage small groups of children in a variety of engaging and fun activities.

You will be expected to adhere to Bee Active policies and procedures including Safeguarding Policy, Health and Safety Policy, Equality Policy, Code of Conduct and understand the requirements of the voluntary part of the Childcare Register.

You should be willing and able, to work well as part of a team and be glowing with creativity, positivity and professionalism.

This position will require availability for a minimum of 4 out of the 6 weeks commencing the 22nd July through to the 30th August. Coaches will be expected to offer flexibility to work shifts at multiple venues between 8:00am and 5:00pm and would need to be able to get themselves to each venue.

To be considered for the role you are required to hold:

  • up to date DBS check on the update service, Safeguarding and Paediatric First Aid certificate (we can facilitate these if you do not currently hold them or require them to be need to be renewed).
  • experience of working with children, preferably in a sports or physical activity setting.
  • 18 years or older.
  • NGB qualifications above level 2 or qualifications relevant to the area of work desirable.


  • Lead early – 7:45am to 3:45pm
  • Mid shift – 9:15am – 3:45pm
  • Lead late – 9:15am to 5:15pm
  • Full day – 7:45am to 5:15pm

We offer competitive hourly rates on a self employed basis with full uniform and training provided.

Applications will close at noon on Wednesday the 8th of May 2019. Successful applicants will be invited via email to our Discovery Day at the Gordon Banks Sports Centre at Newcastle Under-Lyme College from 10:00am – 3:00pm on Saturday the 11th of May 2019.

At the Discovery Day we will share more information with you about Bee Active, the role and our expectations of the position. In the afternoon you will be given an opportunity to showcase your skills working with a small group of children for approximately 15 minutes.

Open to applicants over 16 this is a great opportunity to gain some ‘real world’ sports coaching experience and hands on practical development with our full time and senior coaches during our out of School Holiday Sports Clubs.
You’ll be working with children from 5 -12 years old and assist in the delivery of an exciting course of activities and games.

Applicants will ideally:

  • Have lots of energy and enthusiasm
  • Have a passion for physical development
  • Be patient and have a caring personality
  • Possess communication and language skills

We can take a maximum of 2 students for each of our venues. with places allocated on a first come, first served basis. In return we’ll provide all uniform and any references you need to document your time with us.
